Dr. Nakia Towns, who served as interim superintendent after the abrupt departure of Supt. Bryan Johnson, said she is leaving the county schools and Chattanooga.
She said she will be "pursuing a new opportunity."
Dr. Towns did not apply for the superintendent post, which went to Justin Robertson after a brief search.
Dr. Towns had made him her deputy superintendent.
Dr. Robertson named Dr. Sonia Stewart as his deputy.
