Hazel Lee Wilson Womac, departed this life on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 6, 1927 to Birch and Flossie Mae Gilbert Wilson in Bigfoot, T. Her loves were church, family and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, J.L. Womac; her daughter, Verna Jean Hill; her sisters, Wanda Crowe and Ruth Grindstaff; and her brothers, Jarvis Wilson and Dewey Wilson.

Left to cherish the many memories includes her beloved children, Norma Mahaffey, of Kingston, Tn., Ella Mae Womac, of Riceville, Martha (Gary) Lewis, of Knoxville, Jimmy (Kim) Womac, of Riceville and Phillip (Dee) Womac, of Riceville; brother, Fred Gilbert, of Lewisburg, NC; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, with Mike Frazier officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive Friday from noon-2 p.m .at the funeral home, prior to the service.
