A Cemetery Preservation Workshop at Pleasant Garden will be offered on Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at 308 Rowe Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37411.

In this workshop, organizers will prepare you with the knowledge to clean headstones using the correct preservation materials and techniques. They’ll also share best practices in navigating through derelict cemeteries, causing minimum impact on the graves and environment.

This event is in partnership with the Chattanooga Historical Society, the African American Cemetery Preservation Fund, and Pleasant Garden Cemetery.

Pleasant Garden Cemetery was formally organized in March 1891, sits on 17 acres of land, and was promoted as the first privately-owned Black cemetery in Tennessee.

The workshop is free, but attendees must register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cemetery-preservation-workshop-at-pleasant-garden-registration-323586665427
