York, Lora Lee (Trenton)

Lora Lee York, 85, of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at her home.

She was raised in Long Island, Al., before marrying and becoming a life-long resident of Dade County. She and her late husband owned York’s Grocery on Highway 301 and York’s Grocery #2 in the New Home Community. Lora Lee was a member of Straightway Baptist Church and was devoted to her family; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Bud” York; parents, James & Mary White; son, Ricky York; brothers, Raymond & Herschel White; sisters, Faye Cooper, Nina Ruth Clark, Nellie Maxwell & Patricia Barnett; and daughter-in-law, Karen York.

Survivors include her sons, Roger York, Randy (Lisa) York & Shannon (Michele) York; daughters, Gayla (Larry) Gass & Tammy (Bruce) Cooper; daughter-in-law, Vicky York; sister, Velma (Paul) Malone; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Gary Bone officiating. Interment will follow in Straightway Cemetery, Bryant, Al.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until the funeral hour at Ryan Funeral Home & Crematory, Trenton.
