Michael Anthony Moses, Sr., 58, was born on March 27, 1965, to Mary Nell Moses and Willie James Moses in Chattanooga, Tn. He attended Chattanooga Public Schools and was a graduate of Kirkman High School.

After high school, on August 23, 1983, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he became a Sergeant. During his tenure he was a Rifleman for 11 years. Michael was indoctrinated in Sea Duty. He received the following awards in the Marine Corps: Rifle Badge Expert, 7th Award, Pistol Badge Sharpshooter, Meritorious Master, Letter of Appreciation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon w/4 stars, Good Conduct Medal w/1 star, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/2 Bronze stars, Combat Action Ribbon, and Navy Unit Commendation.
As a Marine, he was certified in Rifleman CRS, Non Commissioned Officer Leadership Course, Squad Leaders Course, Drivers Improvement Course, Basic Security Guard, Nuclear Biological, Chemical Defense Course and Monitor Survey and Decontamination Operations Course. Michael served in many places overseas.

After leaving the military, he was employed as a conductor at Norfolk Southern Railroad for several years. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Willie James Moses.

He is survived by his children, Sgt. Shawn Moses, Michael Moses, Jr., Russell Canady, Stacey Moses, Adrian Gadsen, and Kiera Pritchard; grandchildren, Aiyana Moses, Liam Moses, and Kayden Adrian Moses; mother, Mary Nell Moses; sisters, Angela (Russell) McGee, Sheila (Sam) Wofford, and Andrea Jackson; ex-wife, Lolita Moses; nieces, Kimberly McGee, and Takia Owens; nephews, Russell McGee, Jr. , Sam Wofford, Jr., Gary Owens, Jr., and Solomon Jackson; great niece, Alicia Lucas; great nephew, David Martin; great-great nephews, Exodus Lucas, Zane Owens; friend, Antonet Jackson; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at the funeral home, followed immediately by a 1 p.m. graveside service with military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
