Doris J. Cheek, 82, of Spring City, died on Friday, September 22, 2023, at her residence.
She was born in Spring City on Oct. 3, 1940, to the late Gilliam Tate and Josie Parker Price. Doris graduated high school in Michigan. She and her late husband Fred Cheek traveled to Alaska while he was in the military. They lived in Ohio for several years and moved to Spring City for a while to run Price and Cheek Grocery Store in Spring City; they then, returned to Michigan,coming back in 1985 to live permanently in Spring City. Doris worked for Sears Photography for nine years, until her retirement. Her greatest love were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Charles Cheek of Cincinnati, Ohio, Donald Cheek, Vikki (Mike) Porter and Kevin Cheek all of Spring City, her brother Leonard Price of Knoxville and ten grandchildren Mikel (Amanda) Porter, Richard (Brian Minshaw) Porter, Chris (Kim) Cheek, Tanner (Ashley) Cheek, Heather (BJ) Daniel, Tyler (Dani) Cheek, Taylor (Daniel) Arnold, Brandon Cheek, Zach Cheek and Dakota Cheek and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Wolf Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Forgey officiating. Interment will follow in the Wolf Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wolf Creek Baptist Church Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services.
