Sara Elizabeth Pickett (née Edwards), 90, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023.

She was born in Chattanooga and was the daughter of J. Estil and Rebecca Edwards. Sara, known by her preferred name, was a sweet and kind woman with a gentle spirit. She was a devoted medical assistant, working for Dr. Woodruff Banks for 20 years. In her free time, Sara enjoyed working in her yard and keeping a meticulous house. Her home was her sanctuary. She and her late husband, Ralph, shared a love for camping out west every fall. Sara was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church, where she found solace and community.

Sara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph E. Pickett, as well as her parents, J. Estil and Rebecca Edwards.

Survivors include her loving daughter, Rebecca Wallingsford of Chattanooga; her sister, Kaye (Sirus) Chitsaz; niece, Amanda Reid; and nephew Jacob (Candace) Chitsaz, all from Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Debby (Bob) Brown; and step-grandson, Jonathan Stephenson from St. Johns, FL.

Sara's gentle nature and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sara's memory can be made to a local animal shelter or animal rehab facility, reflecting her love for animals.
