The Cohutta Song Fest is a two day festival featuring emerging songwriters as well as regionally and nationally acclaimed artists in historic downtown Cohutta. In addition to music, there will be 30 plus arts and crafts vendors scheduled, and activities for kids.
Mayor Ron Shinnick said, “ This is a one of a kind event for Cohutta and northwest Georgia. We are really looking forward to a weekend of fun, music and good food.”
Forty singer songwriters will be converging in Cohutta from across the region to play at four venues throughout historic downtown Cohutta Oct. 18 and 19. Featured performers include Becky Buller, Ed Snodderly, Jennifer Daniels and Jeff Neal, The Briars, Jayron Weaver, Kathy Reed and Lonesome Redwing, Lauren and Emerson Sneary, and many many more.
“There are an incredible number of talented singer songwriters in our area and the Song Fest is a great opportunity for them to be heard and discovered,” says organizer Charlsey Etheridge. “Tom (Brown) and I have both been involved in various aspects of musical goings-on in the region for years and this involvement has provided us with the contacts we needed to put all the pieces together.”
The event kicks off Friday, Oct. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Red Wolfe Grill and the Cohutta General Store. The stage at the Red Wolfe Grill will feature Daniel Foster, Cody Ray, and Benjamin Davis from 6-8 p.m., followed by Jayron Weaver. Singer songwriters John Buckner, Anna Shinholster, and Nick Stuard be be sharing their songs at the Cohutta General Store beginning at 6 pm.
On Saturday 33 singer song writers are scheduled at four different venues, with the music starting around 11 a.m. and lasting until 6 p.m. There is also a songwriting contest and six finalists will compete for first place prize of $250 as well as “People’s Choice” award, followed by a concert featuring award winning artists Becky Buller, Ed Snodderly, and Charlsey Etheridge. Becky and Ed will also be conducting a songwriter workshop on Saturday with both morning and afternoon sessions. Look for the Cohutta Song Fest tent at the corner of Red Clay and Wolfe Street for event site map and information.
The Song Fest events on Saturday also coincide with the monthly cruise-in sponsored by the Pharoahs Car Club of North Georgia. Cohutta First Baptist will be providing free activities for kids, including outdoor games, crafts, inflatables, and free popcorn!
