George “Edwin” Nussbaum passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.

He was a cherished husband for 64 years to his late wife, Dorothy Marie Nussbaum. Edwin was a loving father and best friend to his daughters and sons-in-law, whom he embraced as his own. He shared a special bond with his beloved pup, Zoey, and found joy in his roots, often retreating to the mountain where he was born and raised.

Edwin enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially riding his tractor in the field he loved. Though he will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife for eternity.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Nussbaum and Ona Fultz; his brother, Buddy Nussbaum; and his sister, Alice Campbell.

Edwin is survived by his daughters: Renee (Joey) McBryar, Rhonda (Bobby) Henderson, Tina (John) Brown and Starr Higgins. He also leaves behind grandchildren: Haley Henderson, Casey (Cassandra) Harden, Dameon (Shawnie) Shelby, Jake Shelby; along with great-grandchildren: Parker Harden, Savannah Harden, Sierra Shelby, Bently Higgins, Bristol Higgins, McKinsley Shelby, and Christopher Jake Shelby.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 3-9 p.m., and on Friday, Oct. 4, from 12-1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Swiss Colony Cemetery, 315 Swiss Colony Cemetery Road, Gruetli-Laager, Tn. 37339.

In this time of sorrow, may the memories of Edwin bring comfort and peace to all who knew him.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423 877-3524, lanefh.com.
