Rhea County Sheriff Mike Neal along with Chief Deputy John Argo and eight of their deputies went to Unicoi County Sheriff's Department in Erwin, Tn., Saturday afternoon to relieve Sheriff Mike Hensley and his men in the flood-ravaged areas.

Officers met in the squad room to get their assignments to cover Unicoi County so their officers can get some much-needed rest. The Unicoi Sheriff’s Department Sergeant who was giving the assignments was going on working 24 hours straight. Many of the deputies that work for Unicoi County have not been home since Friday. Not only bringing manpower, Sheriff Neal brought with him bottled water, toiletries, canned goods and cleaning supplies to help. The Rhea County Sheriff’s Department is accepting donations of supplies at the Sheriff’s Training Center in Evensville.

Chief John Argo said that they are taking the donations from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Tuesday including Sunday 12 noon to 5 p.m. If you are bringing canned good items, make sure they are pop top cans as a lot of areas still don’t have any power. Deputies will be leaving out Wednesday morning with the next round of supplies.
