The annual Southern Adventist University Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, established in 1990, features gifted young musicians in performance with a full orchestra. This year’s finals will be held on campus in Mabel Wood Hall’s Ackerman Auditorium on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.

Each applicant submits a recording of his or her performance with piano accompaniment, then as many as 16 competitors are chosen to play in the live finals event for a panel of judges, including current faculty members and local music professionals.
From this pool of finalists, winners are selected to perform with the Southern Symphony Orchestra in the Concerto Concert on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2025 at 4 p.m. at the Collegedale Church of Seventh-day Adventists.
