David Henley
David Henley passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, surrounded by family and friends at Erlanger Hospital.
Born on April 3, 1947, in Chattanooga. He married his high school sweetheart Annis “Sue” (Dillard) who was the love of his life until her passing on April 19, 2024.
He worked at 3M until he became one of the most loved and respected used car managers in Chattanooga. He started his career in the car business at John Hicks Oldsmobile and went on to be the first used car manager at Toyota of Cleveland. After retirement David managed East Brainerd Auto Sales for many years and continued to be part of the business until his death. David was a 3rd Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, Chattanooga Shriners and The Elks Lodge.
One of David's greatest treasures was to be part of his grandson Sam’s life especially watching him perform in the Ooltewah High School Marching Band.
David was preceded in death by his wife Sue, his mother and father Inogine and Albert (Sap) Henley, his brother-in-law Claude (Faye) Dillard and sister-in-law, Sissy Dillard (Jerry) Casson.
He leaves behind his daughter Susan Henley (Bill) Underwood, the pride and joy of his life, and his cherished grandson Samuel Underwood; his brother Richard (Lea) Henley, his beloved brother-in-law and his wife Larry “Buddy” (Anita) Dillard and many special nieces and nephews.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers or plants that all donations go to the Ooltewah Marching Band Uniform Fund. The school is raising funds to purchase band uniforms and this cause was close to Davids heart.
Please mail your contribution to the following: (Checks should be made specifically to Ooltewah High School Band Boosters. Note for Band Uniform Fund)
