Thanks To The Poll Workers

  • Sunday, November 3, 2024

This year I participated in the early voting process and I would like to thank all the poll workers who gave of their time to ensure that any registered voter who chose to vote early could do so.  Many worked long hours for 14 days.

I would also like to remind voters who have yet to vote that Tennessee law (Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 2, I believe) prohibits the use of campaign literature within 100 feet of a polling place and that includes the wearing of clothing that contains photos or other information about a candidate in the current race. I witnessed a couple of incidents in which voters became upset that a polling official asked them to remove or conceal clothing or hats that violated this law. Election workers are not attempting to influence the voter's decision; they are simply complying with the law.

Again, thanks to the people who make the elections in Tennessee possible.
