Signal Mountain Police Department
Earlier this year, I met a retired United States Secret Service agent who, ironically, had served on the Signal Mountain police force many years ago and who knew Police Chief Mike Williams when they both served in Chattanooga. He made the statement, "The Signal Mountain community is great. The people are so nice that they thank you when you give them a ticket . . . and I have great respect for Chief Mike Williams."
A little over a year ago, Larry Sloan started as our fire chief, and our community is fortunate to have the selfless service of Chiefs Williams and Sloan, along with the dedicated police officers and firefighters, who protect the neighborhoods in which we live, work, and play. Hopefully, we don’t take for granted the work ethic, courage, and sacrificial commitment with which the 42 police and fire personnel serve us every day.
In the early 1970s, my grandfather, Silas M. Robertson, Jr., helped start the Signal Mountain Police & Fire Christmas Fund. After his passing in 2004 and in light of his legacy of giving and of loving our community, the fund was named the S. M. Robertson Police and Fire Christmas Fund. It’s the time of year when the citizens of Signal Mountain have the opportunity to express our thanks by contributing to that Christmas Fund, which is divided among the police and fire personnel on Christmas Eve.
As Christmas is a time to rejoice with family and friends and a time to thank God for our many blessings, please join us in showing our overwhelming support for these men and women by considering a year-end gift in one of the following ways:
Contribute via PayPal (paypal.me/policefirechristmas)
Contribute via Venmo (venmo.com/SMRobertsonPoliceFireChristmas)
Put your donation in the box located at the Police Station
Mail a check (payable to the S. M. Robertson Police & Fire Christmas Fund) to the Police / Fire Departments, 1111 Ridgeway Avenue, Signal Mountain, TN 37377
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, your police officers and firefighters join me in wishing your family a safe and meaningful Christmas season.
