Sharon Kay Sharp Lands
Sharon Kay Sharp Lands, 80, of Hartwell, formerly of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on May 3, 1944, in Elkhart, In., she was the daughter of the late Robert Sharp and Florence Onkes Sharp. Mrs. Lands met her husband, Joseph Lands, in her hometown of Elkhart, In., and they married on Nov. 23, 1963, and later moved to Rossville. In Rossville, they co-owned Lands Bakery for 44 years where they serviced the town with donuts, cakes, pastries, and a nice place to stop in and have a coffee. While in Rossville, she participated in and was an officer in the charity Stocking Full of Love, and she was of the Baptist faith. Sharon loved Elvis, crocheting, racing (big Dale Jarett fan), and her nephew Jeff Bloom who races sprint cars.
Survivors include her son and his wife: Gary and Gaylon Lands of Hartwell; granddaughter and her husband: Stacie and Eric Beagle of Auburn, Ga.; two great-grandsons: Troy and Camren Beagle; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Lands was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother: Nellie Lands; husband: Joseph Edward Lands; five brothers: Bob, Art, Ed, Tom, and Donald Shearer; and one sister: Norma Shearer Bloom.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sharon Lands will be held on Friday, June 21, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with a visitation following the service. Graveside services will be held at the New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Rainsville, Al., at 3 p.m. Central Time.
At other times, the family will be at the respective homes.
