Ann Barfield of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 78, on June 27, 2024.

She was born in Dooley County, Ga., on July 16, 1945 to the late Ernest and Agnes Holland.

Ann graduated from Mercer University's College of Nursing. During her career, she was a dedicated public health servant, where her compassionate care touched the lives of many. She married her high school sweetheart, Archie Barfield in 1966, and they eventually moved to Signal Mountain to raise their children.

Beyond her professional life, Ann was a pillar of her community, volunteering at schools and advocating for education. She was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly fond of tennis and golf, and took great joy in cheering for her favorite players and teams.

Ann had a deep passion for literature, having read thousands of books throughout her lifetime. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel the world extensively, including residing in England for eight memorable years.

Her love for cooking and the outdoors brought joy to her family and friends, who cherished the moments spent gathered around the table or exploring nature together. Above all, Ann treasured the time spent with her family, who meant the world to her.

She is survived by her son, Kevin (Catherine) Barfield, daughter Susan (Roger) Walia, and three grandchildren, Ellen Barfield, Landon and Liam Walia, all of Atlanta. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Archie Barfield.

Ann's legacy of warmth, wisdom, and joy for life will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was highly devoted to her family and will be dearly missed.
