William Eugene Hargraves, 94, of Ringgold, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

Gene was born in Chattanooga on June 13, 1930, to the late Ervin Boyd and Nellie Carroll Hargraves. He was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia Area and member of Brainerd Baptist Church where he was a part of the Friendship Sunday School Class. Gene was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran. He was a member of Rossville Masonic Lodge #397 and served as Grand Master of Georgia in 1981. He was an avid fan of golf and John Wayne movies.

Gene is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Margaret Sylvia Whalen Hargraves; siblings, Mary Vaughn, Richard Hargraves, and Joyce Rapier; step-sons, Robert Mull and Lewis Revels; grandchildren, Samuel Hargraves and Gideon Hargraves.

Survivors include his sons, Gary (Carole) Hargraves and Boyd (Donna) Hargraves; grandchildren, Matthew Hargraves, H. Rachel Hoffert, Charity Gonce, Grace Crider, Caleb Hargraves, Peter Hargraves, R. Ethan Hargraves, Faith Nifong, Owen Hargraves, and Isabelle Hargraves; 23 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Hargraves, Ethan Hargraves, Owen Hargraves, Caleb Hargraves, Elliott Hoffert, and Stephen Hoffert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Hargraves, Joel Gonce, and Brainerd Baptist Friendship Sunday School Class.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Rock Spring Cemetery.
