Gerald Ray Bryant
Gerald Ray Bryant, 62, passed away on July 21, 2024.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1961, to the late Frances Deette Hamilton and Gerald Bryant. Ray was born in Cohutta, Ga., and graduated from North West Whitfield High School. He joined the Army in 1980 and was an Airborne Ranger serving as a combat medic in the Army elite 173rd Ranger Regiment. He was wounded in action and was medically discharged. He got his BS degree in Business Administration at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served as a police officer with the Dalton Police Department and the Georgia Department of Transportation. For 15 years, Ray owned and operated his insurance office with Country Financial in Dalton, Ga. He was a faithful member of the Red Bank Church of Christ. Ray was a great athlete in high school football and baseball. He enjoyed hunting and long walks with his faithful dog, Blackie. He loved meeting people and long conversations.
Survivors include loving wife of 22 years, Teresa Bryant; step son, Christopher Settles; son and his wife, Joshua and Frances Bryant; grandson, James Owen Bryant; brother, Richard Bryant and Ginger Short.
The family will host a visitation on July 31, from 1-3 p.m.
A celebration of life will be at 3 p.m. with Minister Tommy Stone from Red Bank Church of Christ officiating.
