Suzanne Barry Ragsdale passed away on June 23, 2024, at the age of 77 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she was also born on November 16, 1946.

Suzanne lived a vibrant and multifaceted life, touching many through her talents and entrepreneurial endeavors. She had a gregarious personality, easily gave hugs and nicknames, and saw the best in everyone around her.

Educated at East Ridge High School and the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), Suzanne found her calling in both music and business. She was a talented musician known for her singing and guitar playing, gracing many venues around Chattanooga in her early life. Her passion for music was paralleled by her love of poetry, and she published a book of poems titled “Analgesia”, revealing her creative and emotive spirit.

In her professional life, Suzanne was an entrepreneur, owning several businesses including Mr. Novelty, Inc., The Curiosity Shop, and partial ownership of Olde Towne Antiques from where she’d recently retired. Her businesses were a reflection of her love for the ornate, colorful, and sparkly, mirroring her bright personality.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter, Tisha M. Jackson; brother, John Clifford Barry, Jr.(Goldie); sister, Nanette Barry Kordes (Kyle); and nieces and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Johnson Barry, and her father, John C. Barry, Sr.

A private service for family and close friends will be held at a later date to honor Suzanne’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hearth Hospice, who were a true Godsend in her final days.

Suzanne will be deeply missed by all who knew her, although we rejoice that her soul has gone to be with her savior Jesus Christ, and into the sparkling light where her spirit has always belonged.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home – Coulter Chapel, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423 877-3524. An online guestbook may be viewed at lanefh.com
