Finishing 1-2 in the Section 2 Girls Duals Saturday at Jim Smiddy Arena, Cleveland and Bradley Central for just 21:21 of mat time as both earned return trips to the TSSAA State Duals on Feb. 1.

Two-time defending double state champion Cleveland shutout Walker Valley 66-0 in the semifinals, while Bradley, which finished fourth last season at the state duals, thrashed Shelbyville 57-12 to earn its return trip to Franklin.

The Bearettes conceded the championship match to the third-ranked nationally Lady Raiders, since the teams will be automatically placed in opposite ends of the state bracket either way, due to coming from the same section.

LADY RAIDERS 66 LADY MUSTANGS 0 After defeating Walker Valley 30-21 Thursday with just five wrestlers competing, Cleveland had all hands on deck Saturday, recording pins in all nine contested matches by just a combined 10:23.

"Our ultimate goal is to get back to the state tournament and make history for Cleveland by being the first girls team to ever win it three times in a row," related Lady Raider assistant coach Jenna Morris after the quick victory.

"It's (the State Duals) growing and getting better and today was just another box checked off our list."

Ranked No.
3 nationally, Cleveland's only dual meet losses this season have come to a pair of fellow Top 5 ranked teams.

After getting a forfeit and then a double forfeit to open Saturday's meet, Cleveland's pin parade of nine straight "sticks" got underway, with only three getting out of the first minute and one other came before the first horn sounded.

Junior Adamarie France opened the run needing just 33 ticks to get the referee to slap the mat to end the 114-pound match.

Senior Olivia Collins followed with a 53-second pin at 120, while junior defending state runner-up Senna Grassman, the state's top-ranked 120-pounder, stepped up a weight class for a 43-tick "stick" at 126.

Junior Audreyona Perkins needed just 30 seconds to put her 132-pound opponent's shoulders to the mat.

At 138, Cleveland sophomore A`Nasjah Tate turned a 3-3 tie with Hannah Crellar, who had defeated her Thursday in 15-13 shootout, into a third period getting the ref to blow his whistle at the 3:13 mark.

Ranked No. 6 in the nation and tops in the state, Lady Raider freshman Carolline Hilton needed just 79 ticks after stepping up a weight class to 144.

Senior Kemoria Turner, ranked No. 2 in the state at 145, also moved up a class, getting a 40-second "stick" at 152.

2023 World Champion Piper Fowler, the top-ranked wrestler in the nation and William Penn University commit, posted the quickest pin of the night needing just 15 ticks at 165.

Senior Neveah Morgan capped the shutout with a second-period "stick," getting the mat slap at the 2:17 mark of the 185-pound match.

BEARETTES 52 LADY EAGLES 12 Bradley also put together long train of pins to quickly secure its opportunity to improve on last year's fourth-place State Duals finish.

"I think we wrestled really, really well," assessed Bradley head coach Austin Mathews. "Obviously there is room to grow in some of the weight classes, but we had it locked up after the first 7-8 weight classes with seven pins."

After a scoreless opening period, sixth-ranked senior Cali Ellis turned the up position into a "stick" just 44 seconds into the second round to give the hosts a quick lead.

A "walkover" at 107, allowed second-ranked Mylee Goodwin, the first Bearette collegiate signee, to step up a division where she needed just 24 ticks for another "stick" at 114.

Despite missing the majority of the season due to an injury, junior Nateleigh Shane looked like her 2024 state championship form, getting the ref to clap the mat in just 16 seconds at 120.

At 126, sophomore Jayne Campbell needed just 96 ticks to her the whistle blow, while freshman Kinsley Collins' 132-pound match went just 99 seconds.

Another ninth-grader, Nya Sheehee put her 138-pound opponent's shoulder to the mat in only 47 ticks, while senior Victoria Huffman posted a 7-0 shutout in 145-pound battle.

Junior Kalea Hardy posted the final Bearette "stick" with a 26-second stop at 152.

Shelbyville's lone contested win came at 185, where Natalie Allen got a 20-second pin.
