Sovereignty - And Response

  • Thursday, March 13, 2025

Recently a writer in this forum raised issues about crime, immigration and sovereignty. Sovereignty is a society’s right to govern its people and land. It was dissolving along with our borders under the inept Joe Biden. The writer also claimed to not understand how immigration and crime were related. What was at issue was not related to legal immigration. What is at issue is additional violence and crimes by people here illegally.

In the post, there was also reference to the greatest number of offenses in TN by illegals were traffic crimes. I recall a Venezuelan was charged just after he ran away from a crash that killed three in the East Ridge tunnel (WTVC 12/16/24). That’s a traffic crime. ICE arrested 175 illegal aliens with multiple DUIs in the US in 2022 (ICE 10/19/22). Just a month ago 150 Democrats in Congress voted against legislation to quickly deport illegal aliens who drive drunk (pfluger). Why did they vote against that?

Democrats have failed us. Four years of broken borders and policies allowing armed migrant gangs to roam free puts everyone unnecessarily at risk. It unnecessarily puts law enforcement in their work to keep us safe at even greater risk. It places additional drunk drivers unnecessarily on our roads where our families drive. The keyword is “unnecessarily.”

How could any of that be good for America? It makes a folly of our Founder’s concept of sovereignty.

I appreciate these comments on such an important debate taking place in our country right now. Such a debate deserves careful consideration and discussion that avoids hyperbole and hysteria. So, after reading the above thoughts, I have a few questions.

1) When was the last time you saw an "armed migrant gang" roaming freely? I’d love to know  how many times in total you’ve actually seen an “armed migrant gang” roaming freely.

2) If the keyword is, as you say, “unnecessarily”, does that mean that drunk drivers who are citizens is a 'necessary' risk that our law enforcement must face?
