Grace LeVan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace LeVan, who left this world on March 23, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on April 28, 1950, Grace was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend, and educator whose life was dedicated to her family, faith, and the love of teaching.
Grace grew up in Ringgold, Ga., with her loving family. She was the daughter of James and Margaret LeVan. She had a close bond with her younger sister, Virginia Bryson, her older brother, John LeVan, and his wife Susan, who has truly been a sister for over 50 years.
Grace was a proud graduate of the University of Georgia in 1972, where she graduated third in her class. Grace began her remarkable career as an English teacher in a convent in Mexico for two years, where she inspired her students with her passion for learning and unwavering kindness. After returning to the United States, she devoted 44 years to teaching, predominantly in the sixth grade. Her impact on her students and fellow teachers was profound; she connected with young minds and instilled a love for literature and learning in all those she taught.
A woman of faith, Grace was a member of Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church. Her faith guided her actions and was a source of strength for her family. She helped her loved ones believe in God and find comfort in their faith.
Grace was not only an exceptional educator but also a loving and nurturing figure in her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Brandy LeVan, and her three grandchildren, Thomas Crump III, Ashley Crump (Yovanni Valladares), and Fade Crump. Grace also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom brought immense joy to her heart.
With a heart of gold, Grace went out of her way to help others, always striving to do the right thing. Her compassion and generosity touched the lives of many, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A celebration of Grace's life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, at Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bob Butler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catoosa County Children’s Fund, a cause that was close to her heart.
Grace is now at peace in heaven, where she will continue to watch over her family with love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the light she brought into our lives.
