Rose Marlene Corn, 82, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, left this world on Friday, March 21, 2025 to walk the streets of gold with her Lord and Savior.

She was born on August 29, 1942, in Chattanooga, to Lester and Mildred King.

Marlene graduated from Kirkman Technical High School in 1961 where she studied cosmetology. This came in very handy for several members of her family, especially for her little brother, “Jitterbug,” after their Mama got ahold of some new clippers and tried them out on him! She would always help her sisters out with their perms. I think she just wanted to spend time with her sisters and the smell of the perms ran all of the kids out of the house!

She married her soul mate, David, on November 20, 1960. She loved being a homemaker and a Mom to three good looking, smart, awesome boys and all of their friends. She was very resourceful and a penny pincher who knew how to stretch a dollar and make things last. She could sew and crochet with the best of them. She once reupholstered our living room couch three times! She made curtains for our house and many others as well. Never charging, just helping family and friends out. She loved to crochet; baby clothes and baby blankets were her favorites to crochet and give as gifts. (Randy says don’t forget the stylin and profilin leisure suits she used to make) She didn’t start out as a very good cook, due to as she said, “I was the youngest and all I got to do was wash dishes.” It’s a good thing that she married a cook who taught her! Thanks Dad!

She went to work at a few different manufacturing companies once the youngest, most good looking and smartest son started elementary school. (Randy disputes the smartest…and yields to most good looking) She spent the majority of her working career at the Cavalier Corporation where she worked on the assembly lines producing Coca-Cola vending machines. She made life-long friends there and enjoyed being a practical joker. (Ask about the double “chocklit” ex-lax cookies she made for the weekend security guard.)

A sweet and kindhearted Southern woman who made sure her boys grew up with manners and were gentlemen like their Dad. She was very outgoing and never met a stranger (My little brother got this from Mom.)

Her grandchildren gave her much joy and happiness over the years. She loved watching them grow up and give her great grandchildren to hold and love on. She was truly proud of her family.

Whether you called her Marlene, Mom, Mama, Aunt Marlene, Memaw, Nanny, Sis, LB, or Jabber Jaws, she genuinely loved you.
To know her, was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and love of her life, David Corn, Sr; her first born son, David Corn, Jr; brothers, Lewis and Raymond King; sisters, Jo Ann Henderson, Mary Nell Moulton and Lynda Long.

Survivors include her sons, Randall Corn (Kim) and Roger Corn (Bonnie); her daughter, Penny Corn (Glen); her grandchildren, Marissa Coe (Tyler), Emily Durbin (Craig), Matthew Corn, Jessica Burleson (Hunter) and Shelby McArthur (John); her great-grandchildren, Malia, Paislee, Jillianna, Jameson David and Liana; her sister, Shirley Earnshaw; her brothers, Ron King (Nora) and Jerry Long (Ann); her nieces and nephews
