William "Bill" R. Russell, 96, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2025.

Born on Nov. 17, 1928, in Knoxville, Bill lived a life full of warmth, humor, and dedication to others. Bill attended Carson-Newman University, where his studies were interrupted when he was drafted to serve in the Korean War. He proudly served on the front lines, exemplifying courage and commitment to his country. Following his military service, Bill built a successful career in pharmaceutical sales, where his natural charisma, integrity, and dedication set him apart. His career took him to Tampa, Fl., and Marietta, Ga., where he lived before returning to Chattanooga to be close to family.

Outside of work, Bill had a passion for photography and gardening. Always impeccably dressed and quick with a smile or a joke, Bill had an unmatched ability to bring joy to every room he entered. A devoted member of Brainerd Baptist Church, Bill was active in the church community and found deep fellowship among his friends in the Friendship Class. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life.

Above all, Bill cherished his beloved wife, Eula Mae Russell, with whom he shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. One of their greatest joys was traveling side by side where they enjoyed the beauty of nature and time spent together. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Zetta Russell.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Eula Mae, along with many loving family members and friends who will miss his stories, his teasing, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, at 10 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with Dr. Steve Rowland officiating. Members of the Friendship Class from Brainerd Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ronald McDonald House and Brainerd Baptist Church in Bill’s memory. Bill’s legacy of love, laughter, and connection lives on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge.
