The Chattanooga Area Food Bank, Feeding the Future and Five Star Breaktime Solutions will host the 2nd Annual Nooga Hunger Walk Run on Sunday, Sept. 14 at Chattanooga Green, across from Ross’s Landing, 201 Riverfront Pkwy. in downtown Chattanooga.
This family-friendly event invites the community to come together for a 5K walk/run and Kids Fun Zone in support of the food bank’s mission to end hunger in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia.
"The Nooga Hunger Walk Run raises critical funds and promotes awareness of food insecurity in the community- where one in six neighbors faces hunger," organizers said.
"Seasoned runners, casual walkers and supporters of this worthy cause are encouraged to sign up today and be part of the solution.
"Proceeds from the event will directly support hunger-relief efforts in the food bank’s 20-county service area. Every dollar raised provides three meals to children, families and seniors who may not know where their next meal is coming from."
In its inaugural year, the Nooga Hunger Walk Run raised over $70,000 with more than 350 participants. Organizers hope to surpass those numbers in 2025.
Participants are encouraged to register individually or to form a team with friends, family or coworkers.
"Fundraising is optional, but deeply appreciated, as every contribution builds a stronger and more resilient community," organizers said.
“The Nooga Hunger Walk Run is a unique opportunity for our community to come together in a meaningful way,” said Melissa Blevins, CEO at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. “Each step taken during this event helps move us closer to a hunger-free community.”
