A member of the Chattanooga Police department SWAT Team has been charged with domestic assault.

Scott Crider, 32, was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they were called Sunday night on a disorder between Officer Crider and his girlfriend, Shaina Berstein, at her residence at 3847 Quail Lane.

Investigator Jeffrey Gaines said Ms. Berstein stated that Officer Crider came to her residence, grabbed her around her arms and threw her around in the living room and bedroom. He said she had bruises to both arms and her left shoulder, but did not require medical treatment.

Police spokesman Tom Layne said officers at that time did not make an arrest. He said it was decided to charge Officer Crider after further investigation.

He is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation.

The veteran of over 10 years with the city police department is also a field training officer.
