A murder victim found in the Sequatchie River on Thursday has been identified as 56-year-old Clifford M. Carden Jr.

He was last seen on Wednesday after telling family members he was going to a drug store.

The Bledsoe resident was disabled.

His completely burned 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was found at 7 a.m. Thursday in a wooded area a mile north of the Sequatchie County Justice Center.

His body was found floating in the river about three hours later. That was 10 miles away near Frank Tate Road.

Authorities said it appeared the victim appeared to have suffered a blow to the head before he was dragged to the river.

His wallet, cell phone, guns and leather jacket were missing.
