A woman was killed at the foot of Lookout Mountain on Saturday morning after her car was struck by a truck that had lost its brakes coming down the mountain.

The victim was identified as Mallory Baldschun.

A child in her Toyota Tacoma had minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the International Prostar truck, James Wilson, also had minor injuries.

Two other vehicles coming up the mountain were also impacted, but there were no further injuries. They were a Chrysler Town and Country and a Subaru.

The wreck happened at 10:40 a.m. at a curve at the bottom of Ochs Highway.

The driver of the truck said he lost his brakes and tried to get into a ditch, but went across the center line.

The vehicle was carrying flammable material and haz mat teams went to the scene.

The road was closed for an extended time.
