Sept. 15, 2020, Trial Date Set For 3 Men Charged With Killing Jacob Dakota Moore Of Apison

A trial date of Sept. 15, 2020, has been selected for three men charged in the October 2018 murder of Jacob Dakota Moore of Apison. 

 

Facing murder charges are Askia Witherow, Willie Jay Boyd and James David Robinson.

 

Criminal Court Judge Barry Steelman said the defendants would be back in court on Feb.

Cameron Williams is the prosecutor. Defense attorneys are Fisher Wise, Boyd Patterson and Brandy Spurgin-Floyd.

 

An investigation by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, the 10th District Attorney General’s Office and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrests.

 

At the request of 10th District Attorney General Steve Crump, on Oct.29, 2018, TBI agents joined investigators from Polk County and the District Attorney’s Office in investigating skeletal remains that were found by hunters on Benton Mountain in the Reliance community. The remains were ultimately identified as those of the 26-year-old Moore.

 

During the course of the investigation, and with the assistance of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, agents developed information that they said identified the suspects.
