Perry Lamb, who was second in the 2016 general election for sole commissioner of Walker County, announced that he is running for chairman of the county's new five-member board. He will run as a Republican.
He noted that in the 2016 race he became the first candidate in the history of Walker County to gather enough signatures to appear on the ballot as an Independent.
His campaign said, "Rather than sit on the sidelines in defeat, Lamb continued to speak up for Walker citizens culminating in the overwhelming 2018 vote to return Walker County to a board of commissioners.
Mr. Lamb said for the upcoming campaign he has "released a first of its kind platform for local politics in North Georgia. In-depth Sensible Solutions, innovative ideas, implement ready, built on knowledge gained from the past four years of public engagement I continued after the 2016 campaign."
These include:
• 2020 Annual Citizen Survey now available atspeakupwalker.com
• New methods of public engagement
• Walker Performs: Making government cheaper, faster, better, and simpler.
• Ethics ordinance
• Online county checkbook
• Transparent and easy to understand budget reports
His campaign said more than 500 citizens have taken the Annual Survey in the first week. The survey will run until June. Speak Up Walker "will unveil a new public engagement source next week to give citizens unprecedented access and information about their community and leaders," it was stated.
The Lamb campaign stated, "With his efforts for increased public engagement and in-depth sensible solutions platform, Perry Lamb is putting forth real solutions to empower the new board and setting the tone for a successful Walker County where all citizens have a voice and role in their government."
