With the 2024, high school football season kicking off around the country, MaxPreps listed the top 250 all-time winningest high school football programs in the United States. Sixteen schools from the Volunteer State made the list. Four of them are private and two are from Chattanooga. Can anyone guess?
Baylor and McCallie of course. Baylor enters 2024 with 763 wins while the Blue Tornado enters with 710.
The other two private schools are Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville with 793 and Christian Brothers in the western part of the state with 743.
Twelve are public schools. The top two on the list are Maryville with 856 wins and Dobyns-Bennett
in Kingsport with 827.
Maryville's neighbor Alcoa has exactly 700 victories. Other public schools on the list are Central High (Knoxville), Whitehaven, Haywood, Milan, Huntingdon, Union City, Trousdale County, Oak Ridge and Greeneville.
Number one on the list is Valdosta (GA) with 952, two close behind in the Bluegrass are Louisville Male 948 and Mayfield (KY) 946.
