Charles Edward Herron, 80, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening, November 15, 2019 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving and devoted wife and family. 

Mr. Herron was a retired 20 year active service member with the United States Air Force. Charles was born April 4, 1939 in Copperhill, Tn., the son of the late Roy L. Herron and Ella Waldon Herron. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane Herron; and brothers, Johnny Herron, R.L. Herron.

Charles is survived by his wife, Edith Satterfield Stewart Herron; daughter, Charlene and Tracy Jones, Angie Raburn and Scott Lindsey; step-son, Gregory Stewart; sisters, Doris Curtis, Linda and Jimmy Jones; brother, Donnie and Linda Herron; granddaughter, Adrienne and C.J Miller; and grandsons, Chip Burke, Justin and Tiffany Raburn, Cody Raburn.

A service to celebrate the life of Charles Edward Herron will be held, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Rev. Julian Sims officiating. Charles will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 112 and Masonic Rites performed by Dalton Lodge #105

The family work like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice for the care and comfort they shown towards our family.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, Nov. 19, from Ponder Melrose Chapel from 6-9 p.m. and from 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, until the service hour at 2 p.m.
