Gary Thacker, 75, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 5, 2020.
Gary was born in Oak Ridge, Tn. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a graduate of Southwestern Theological Seminary. He dedicated more than 40 years of his life to ministry; serving as pastor at Piney Flats Baptist Church, Big Spring Baptist Church, Pinecrest Baptist Church, and Corinth Baptist Church. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ann; his daughters, Heather Waner (Jeff), Alison Griffith (Shane) and April Slocumb (Robbie); his beloved grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Lily Griffith, Jack Miller, Aidan Waner, Max Waner, Ella Kate Griffith and Peyton Slocumb; and his nephew, Jared Thacker (Marie).
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Thacker, and his brother, Jim.
Due to COVID-19, the family will hold a private service officiated by Rev. John Turner. Gary will be buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland.
