Phillip LaBron Barnett, 81, of Hixson, Tennessee, walked through Heaven’s door at 7:11 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020.

Phillip was a craftsman painter and paper hanger for 50 years. He was an accomplished guitar player and played every day. He was a faithful member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and musician.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Frances Barnett. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette (Dolly) Barnett, daughter Melvia (Anthony) Chitwood, son Jeff (Susie) Barnett, brother John Barnett, grandchildren Josh (Ashley Burns) Chitwood, Jessica (Gabe) Johnson, Taylor (Courtney Clingan) Barnett, and great grandson Dylan Chitwood.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Chattanooga Food Bank or Chattanooga Rescue Mission.

Graveside services will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens of Hixson, at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, with Reverend Ronnie Agee officiating. 

There will be no public visitation.

Masks will be required at the graveside service, by request of the family.
