Miss Virginia Evans Chism, 75, of Cleveland, born March 26, 1945, daughter of Mr. Benjamin D. Chism, Sr. and Martha Nelle McGehee Chism, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2021, after battling cancer for several years.
Survivors are one brother, Ben D. Chism, Jr. and his wife, Faye Yates Chism; niece, Bethany Chism; nephew, Scott Chism (Hayley); and many extended family members and cousins.
She was presently a member of Big Spring Baptist Church, Cleveland and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Cleveland. She held a 1968 B.S. degree form Tennessee Wesleyan University in business education and office administration. She was a 30-year teacher in McMinn and Bradley County, part-time teacher at Cleveland State Community College evening division and administrative assistant/secretary at First Lutheran Church for 10 and a half years.
Her 2015-present battle with cancer has ended now in Heaven.
The funeral will be at Big Spring Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m., with ministers Pastor Daniel Malone and Rev. Tom Wickes officiating. A private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be deacon’s of Big Spring Baptist Church and Sunday School Class members. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Yates family.
