Deacon Tommy Lee Ragland, “Dick”, 59, of Chattanooga, peacefully entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at his residence.

He was born in Lawrence County, Al., to Tommy Lee Jackson and Earlene Evans. Tommy graduated from Brainerd High School c/o of 81, where he played basketball. Tommy was a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board until his health failed, Male Chorus, Adult Usher Board, Bus Driver, and volunteered with Stop-The-Madness Organization of Chattanooga. Tommy was loved by so many and was a very dedicated person. He had a big heart and would help anyone who needed help, even after his health was failing him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Lee Jackson; mother, Earlene Ragland Evans; stepfather, Harold Evans; mother-in-law, Kattie Mae Barbee; grandmother, Narise Jackson; sister-in-law, Diane Woods; and granddaughter, Jiyanna Ragland.

Tommy leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 35 years together and 25 years of marriage, Wanda Ragland; two daughters, Tanara Ragland and Tornisha Ragland; son, DéVante (Kia) Ragland, all of Chattanooga; grandchildren, MíCaiden Weaver, NéVaeh Bryant, Nehelani Bryant, DeAsia Ragland, Jevonte Ragland, and DeAuria Ragland; siblings, Debra Ragland of Atlanta, GA, Vivian (Pastor Samuel) Jackson of Chattanooga, LaTressa Motton, Christopher (April) Motton, both of Huntsville, AL, Pastor Marcus (Kimberly) Motton of Florence, AL, Anthony (Felissa) Jackson of Huntsville, AL, Thomas (Shelia) Jackson of Maryland, VA, Toney Harris of Huntsville, AL, and Carolyn Boyd of Chattanooga; father-in-law, Elmer Mosley of Chattanooga; stepmother, Dorothy Jackson of Mason, AL; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Leonard) Orr of Hillsboro, AL; brothers-in-law, Carl (Pam) Mosley of Decatur, AL, John Wayne Mosley of Mason, AL, Ray Mosley of Chattanooga, and Andre (Tierra) Mosley of Lafayette, GA; God-Mother, Buel Walker of Chattanooga; two God-son, Tomias and Benjamin; best friend, Orlando “House” Pendergrass; a special thanks to friend, Walter Hitchcock; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many other friends.

Tommy will lie in state on Friday, Dec. 17, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist.

Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
