Lloyd Douglas “Pawpaw” Caldwell, age 78, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Hamilton Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Franklin Caldwell and Hazel Edwards Caldwell Miolen. Just over seven months ago he lost his loving wife and better half of 60 years, Patricia Lee "Memaw" Caldwell.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Larry Edward and Kenneth Vance Caldwell, Chris, Steve, and Rita Miolen, and Lavon Walker; as well as his sons, Larry, Edward, and Douglas Caldwell all of Dalton; granddaughters, Julie, Sarah, and Victoria; great-grandchildren, Madilin and Gabriel, and many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was very proud to have joined the 101st Airborne at the age of 16.

He was a very devoted member and faithful servant of Dalton Masonic Lodge #105 and for many years served in various roles across many masonic bodies. He cared greatly for others and touched many lives with kindness, friendship, and wisdom. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Together Lloyd and Patricia enjoyed traveling the world. They flew with their three children in his small airplane across the country several times as well as took many cross-country driving trips to see all our great country has to offer. Together they operated their own carpet business for over 25 years. They were both very dedicated to their children, family, and many friends from various business, church, school, and civic organizations over the years.

Lloyd will be laid to rest beside his wife at West Hill Cemetery. The graveside services begin at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Rev. James Brownlee will officiate a Masonic Funeral conducted by Bro. Mike Hardigree and attending Brother Masons.
