U.S. Army Veteran Was Retired Deputy Chief For The Chattanooga Fire Department

Harold Reese Wooden, Jr., 94, of Fort Oglethorpe, passed away on October 6, 2022.

 

He had lived in the Fort Oglethorpe area for the past 50 years. Harold was deputy chief in the Chattanooga Fire Department where he retired after 38 years of service. He also was a veteran of the United States Army, was an avid Atlanta Brave’s fan, and loved playing golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold Jr. & Ruth Wooden; and brother Donnie Wooden.

Harold is survived by his wife Betty Hays Wooden; daughter Bunny (Steve) Harvey; son Noonie (Susan) Wooden; grandchildren Chris (Tangie) Harvey, Brad (Melissa) Harvey, Cory Harvey, David (Hannah) Wooden, Steven Carter; great grandchildren Carson, Ryker, Zander, Levi, Caroline, Taylix, Kace, Brayden, and Avery. Also surviving is numerous extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 2–4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8. A funeral service will follow immediately at 4 p.m. with Rev. Christa Songer officiating. A private burial for the family will be held at Calvary Gardens Cemetery and Mausoleum.
