U.S. Army Veteran Retired From DuPont And Was An Avid Atlanta Braves Fan

Charles Eugene Kitchings, 90, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022. 

He was a friend to so many. Charles loved baseball and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.  In the early 1960s he coached little league baseball in Red Bank and was one of the volunteers to help build what is today Fairbanks Field.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Dupont after over 30 years in Old Hickory, Tennessee and Chattanooga, Tennessee plants.  After his retirement he worked security at Northgate Mall.

Charles was born in Summerville, Ga., on July 2, 1931, to the late Floyd and Foye Kitchings.  

He was preceded in death also by a sister, Margaret Kitchings.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Kitchimgs; sons, Danny (Donna) Kitchings and Scott (Tracy) Smith, daughter, Renee Jolley (Tom) Thompson; grandsons, Caleb (Heather) Kitchings, Scott Smith, Jackson Cresswell, Cole Jolley and Conor Thompson; great-grandchildren, Landon Kitchings and Audrey Kitchings.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Martin Boyd Christian Home, nurse Joy and to Hospice of Chattanooga nurse Kim for their excellent care.
