Julia Lee Nichols died on August 29, 2022, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Julia was born to Bernice Bailey and Gilbert U. Nichols on Aug. 11, 1943, in Chattanooga. She grew up in and attended school in Chattanooga. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Julia spent her teaching career at Ringgold High School.

Julia loved her friends, family, playing golf, and watching the Lady Vols. She was a member of the Brainerd Women’s Golf Association where she served as president for several years. She also was a volunteer at Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center and supported several animal charities.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Gilbert William (Nick) Nichols and her good friend, Carol Clark.

She is survived by her nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Chattanooga Memorial Park.

The family requests donations to Julia’s favorite charity the ASPCA or an animal charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
