Ikey Lee Charles, Sr., 66, passed away, January 14, 2023, in Chattanooga.

He was born in Buena Vista, Ga., June 28, 1956, to Hilliard and Margaret Charles. Ikey attended and graduated from Riverside High School, class of 1976. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was formally employed with Hy’s Car Wash for many years and worked at AZZ, Inc. until his health failed.

Ikey was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Marjorie Searcy.

Ikey leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Diane Charles; children, Ikey Charles, Jr, Cedric (Calessa) Charles, and Nathan Charles; stepchildren, Horatis Tumlin and Calvin Gibbs; two sisters, Annie Lee Charles and Elizabeth Charles Chapman; four brothers, James Person, Harold (Annie Mae) Person, Earnest Charles, and Jerry Charles; 14 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends; a special cousin/brother, Herman Holt.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

A 12:30 p.m. graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
