Jerry Carver
Jerry Lorain Carver, 55, of Athens, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
She was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida and was the only child of the late Martha M. Smyly and the late William Clyde Gilliam.
She loved gaming, lego building and watching TV. In her youthful days she was very athletic. Loving to play softball, golfing and going swimming. She was a minister in the Church of God as a certified teacher for many years prior to her declining health. Jerry had only two weeks of college left to earn her Bachelor's degree in accounting when she passed away and had plans on obtaining her Master's degree in accounting starting in January, 2024.
Jerry met the love of her life, Thomas Carver in middle school. They began a relationship in high school that spanned almost four decades. Together they faced many challenges and many successes, but they always loved each other. They were affectionately known to many as Tom n Jerry.
Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, Martha M. Smyly-Koehler and William Clyde Gilliam and two very special fur babies, Rosetta and Gilly.
Leaving to cherish her memories include her husband of 33 years, Thomas Carver of Athens, Tn.; uncle, Clifford Smyly Jr. of Mo.; brother in-law, Timothy L. Carver Sr.; a host of church family; grandson, Quinton and special friends, Kam Lofton, Aaron and Faith Muse and special fur babies, Sweet Tea and Madea.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to assist the family with outstanding expenses.
