Grace Breaks Single Game Record For Stolen Bases In Win Over TCPS

A ten-run fourth inning led Grace Academy to a 17-2 victory over TCPS on Thursday, March 16th.

Freshman Andrew Huggins showed a dominant performance on the mound for the Golden Eagles. Huggins allowed two hits and two runs over four innings pitched, striking out eight batters. 

The Golden Eagles combined for a total of eight hits. The offensive firepower was led by freshman Walter Bianco with a two hit game. Freshmen Clayton Gunther, Caleb Powell, Andrew Huggins and Kennedy Brewer, junior Brock Passons, and senior Eli Ibrahim also had their share of hits in the contest. 

Grace Academy stole a total of twenty-two bases during the game breaking their single game stolen base record. Bianco shattered the single season game stolen base record by an individual player with nine. Senior Wade Gaither and Passons picked up three. Brewer, junior Collin Petty, and Huggins picked up two, while Gunther added one.  

“I am proud of the way we played as a team. This game will be one that these guys can talk about for the rest of their lives. They know, more than anything, I love them for who they are as people not as players”, said coach Cordaro Cummings.
