Marteal M. Norris, 87, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Marteal was a native of the Raus Community in the Tullahoma area. She lived in Madison, Fl., prior to moving back to Tennessee in 2002. She graduated from MTSU with degrees in Biology and Home Economics. Marteal was a school teacher for many years. Later in life she worked with the Daisy Head Start Center. She enjoyed being a part of the Soddy-Daisy Senior Neighbors and Friends. She was a member of the Soddy Daisy First Baptist Church where she sang with the Choir and performed with the Bell Ringing Team. She was an avid animal lover, especially cats.

Marteal was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Norris; parents, Joel Price McArthur and Alma Lee Byrom McArthur; brothers, Gilford McArthur, Wendell McArthur, Douglas McArthur; sister, Elise Troupe.

Survivors are her children, Joy Williams (Joel), Jeannie Hamblen (Jim), Jimmy Norris (Tammy) and April Phillips (Scott); grandchildren, Heather Flowers (Bob), Josh Williams, Amber McGhee (Brandon), Emily Dunbar (Steven), James Norris, Nolan Norris, Walker Norris, Cadence Phillips; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 22, from 12-2 p.m. followed by a service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel all at Daves-Culbertson Funeral Home, 401 N Jackson Street, Tullahoma, Tn. 37388. Burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery.
