Mary D. Allen 76, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

She was a graduate of George Peabody College for Teachers and earned her master's in Education from Tennessee Technological University. Mary dedicated her life to young children for 41 years.

She was an active member of Stuart Heights Baptist Church in Chattanooga, and lived her faith daily, including with her church family by helping with the outreach, Women Serving Christ. Mary was an avid reader, member of various book clubs, and bible study groups, especially in her retirement years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lennie Mae Dennis.

She is survived by her husband, Robert W. “Butch” Allen; one daughter, Bethany Rockwood; her son, Gregory W. (Angela) Allen; five grandchildren, Rachel Allen, Olyve Rockwood, Reagan Allen, Rebecca Allen, and Sadie Rockwood; two sisters, Cynthia Weir, Anita (Jim) Saulsgiver; and one brother, Dale W. Dennis.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Stuart Heights Baptist Church, Hixson Campus, 1505 Cloverdale Dr., Hixson, with Brother Darrell Davenport officiating. Visitation with family will be from 1 p.m. until service time.

The family truly appreciates the love and exceptional care that Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Chattanooga have given to Mary and her family.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
