Rodney Wayne Waters, 69, of Rocky Face passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J.B. and Pearl Waters and maternal grandparents, Woodrow L. Wilson and Mary Etta and Clifford Lolan Smith.

Rodney is survived by his parents, Marshall and Betty Waters of Rocky Face, Ga.; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffery and Renee Waters of Bolivar, Mo.; niece, Kelsey Waters Crandall of St. Louis, Mo.; nephew, Mitchell Waters of Brooklyn, Ny.

Rodney attended Valley Point Schools in Dalton and Gracewood State School in Augusta, Ga.  He enjoyed many years of participation in sheltered workshops in Dalton, such as Cross Plains, Cheerhaven and Kaleidoscope, and he served a term as president of the Action Club.  Rod was a passionate lifelong fan of Elvis Presley and he enjoyed dressing as Elvis and giving out candy to the many trick-or-treaters that visited his front porch on Halloween.  He was a member of Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young boy by his grandfather and pastor, Rev. J. B. “Benny” Waters.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. Rodney will be laid to rest in West Hill Cemetery.
