As a child growing up in Dunlap in the 1930's and 40's, she was raised in a faithful Christian home. Her paternal grandfather, Judge James Houston Heard, serves as superintendent of the Methodist Sunday school for 25 years. Her maternal grandfather, Professor William V. Freiley, served as principal and superintendent of Sequatchie County schools. Also, around 1907 he was selected along with two other men as the first elders of the Dunlap church of Christ. Charline's strong Christian family led her to be a faithful Christian all her life.
Charline loved her family---not only her immediate family, but also her nieces, nephews and her church family. She was employed at Sequatchie General Hospital for over 20 years as a CNA and Ward Clerk.
The family wants to thank her caregivers for all their help and support these last few years---Mary Penley, Cathy Cunningham, niece Brenda Gaston, to the wonderful staff at NHC Sequatchie and Hospice of Chattanooga. A very special thanks goes to a special friend Stephanie Layne for many, many hours she spent with Charline.
