Anne Dragoo Ramsey
Anne Dragoo Ramsey, 74, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, has left to go be with the Lord, her mother, Nancy Fitzwater Goss and father, Richard “Bud” Dragoo, brother, Dick Dragoo, and life-long friend, Philip Tabb on September 18, 2024.
Anne was born in Chattanooga and raised with the old-town gang of Signal Mountain. She loved fashion design and attended fashion school in Atlanta. She was a fashion designer, adventurer, and entrepreneur.
Anne had a love for animals and it was fitting that her first venture was creating festive life-sized animals from cloth. She later found great success in founding Lines Slippers, selling to Nordstrom and Macy’s, among others.
Anne lived a very nomadic life living in New Orleans, Los Angeles, Charleston, SC, Mount Rest, SC, and Hendersonville, NC. She travelled around the world visiting Kathmandu and other exotic locales, but she was a Francophile at heart, loving the French language and traveling to Paris as much as she could.
At 48 years young Anne would marry Gary Ramsey and live her fairytale “happily ever after” with a man who would do anything for her, including having more animals than any man should know what to do with, let alone how to handle.
The ultimate success in Anne’s life rests not in her business success, her many adventures, not even her fashion sense, but in her friendships and her love for others. As my mom constantly reminded me, “Love others, love animals.” Her love brought her the world’s greatest friendships. Her life was well-lived.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Ramsey of Signal Mountain; son, Michael Tabb of Signal Mountain; stepsons, Gray (Emily) Ramsey, Brian (Jennifer) Ramsey, Stephen (Iris) Ramsey; grandchildren, Grayson, Lydia, Garrett, Brooklyn, Conner, Knox, and Elsie Ramsey; sister, Susan (Jim) Sasse; sisters-in-law, Linda Cavin, Beth Ramsey, and Shelly Ramsey; and brother-in-law, Bill Ramsey.
The family wishes to thank Jessica Tabb for her work taking care of Anne during her final days. We would also like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks any contributions be made to: Sierra Club of Tennessee at P.O. Box 113 Powell, Tn. 37849.
Come celebrate Anne Ramsey’s life at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m. with visitation at 1 p.m.
