Rosetta Johnson Bryant, 75, was born September 11, 1949. She passed away on January 5, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

She was a majorette during her time at Howard High School and graduated in the Class of 1968. Immediately upon graduation, she followed her brother, John Floyd, to New York City, and lived with her uncle and aunt, Fred and Lillye Watts. She also joined the love of her life, Harry Leon Bryant, with whom she shared her life for over 54 years.

For 35 years, much of her life in Lakeview, New York revolved around caring for the home she shared with Harry, their son, Troy, and her stepchildren, Barry and Tonya. She worked at various companies throughout her adult life including as a bank teller for Citibank, and a shipping clerk for American Airlines. One of her favorite pastimes was bowling. For several years, she bowled every Tuesday evening and participated in many bowling tournaments with her bowling league. By 2003, she and Harry had returned to Chattanooga. She attended worship services at multiple area churches after returning.

Rosetta was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her mother, Juanita Kibble Johnson; her father, John Earl Johnson; her older sister, Anna Jean Battle; her older brother, John Floyd Johnson; and her younger sister, Wanda Johnson Shamburger.

Survivors include her younger brother, Ronald Johnson; her son, Troy (Cynthia) Bryant; her stepson, Barry (Carmen) Bryant; her stepdaughter, Tonya (Scott) Hatchett; her niece, Kimberly Coltrane, her nephews, Patrick (Claudette) Johnson, Kieran Gomez, and Mark Battle; her grandchildren Jaidyn, Troy, and Samara; and a host of cousins, great nieces/nephews, in-laws, friends, and neighbors (whom to many she was affectionately known as “Aunt Rose”).

Public viewing will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The graveside service and interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
