Ernest “EJ” Dishroon, Jr.
Ernest “E J” Dishroon, Jr., a long-time cancer survivor, went home to be with his Heavenly Father Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the age of 83.
EJ, originally from Palmer, Tn., lived in Chattanooga, Hixson, and Harrison since the early 60s with his wife of 62 years, Anna Carol. He was a former TVA Public Safety officer who enjoyed wood working, yard sales, gardening, and serving others. He was known for his humor, kindness, and being a bigger kid than his son, grand-kids, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Ernest Dishroon (Palmer); brother Benny Dishroon (Huntsville, Al.); and sisters Betty Whitlow (Cagle, Tn.) and Alpha Cleek (Gruetli, Tn.); and great-nephew Jeremy Layne.
EJ is survived by his loving wife, Anna Carol Dishroon; son Grady (Kim) Dishroon; granddaughters Kara (Ryan) Brown and Kelsey (Wallace) Foster; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Claire, and Parker Brown, and Lincoln Foster; two brothers, Preston Dishroon of Chattanooga and Roger Dishroon of Statesboro, Ms., and sister, Sylvia Ann Roberts of Ringgold; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Services will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16, at Oakwood Baptist Church, 4501 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, where EJ was a faithful, serving member. Visitation for family and friends from 2-4 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, Feb. 17, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m.
